Back to Teaching

Can you believe we’re almost at the end of April? This always turns out to be such a busy month for me. Why do so many things have to happen in April?

Yesterday (Sunday) I took a much-needed nap and felt a little more like myself afterward. Jasper returned early in the evening, having enjoyed his birthday adventure. Due to a huge traffic jam, they only had Saturday afternoon in Galveston, but they enjoyed it.

We had a lot of rain in the evening—about an inch and a half. Soon things will start drying out so I am trying to appreciate any rain we have.

I did some grading last night and was able to finish it this morning. I also installed my continuous glucose monitor. I didn’t get a prescription for it, but signed up for a program where my results will be added to a study. So far the readings have been rather puzzling.

My class today went pretty well. We ended up telling snake stories. I restrained myself. I’m pretty sure I can top any snake story that they might have.

After lunch I had some errands to run, including mailing out some chai mix. My favorite postal clerk was on duty, which makes it a pleasure to mail a package.

I found a good deal on a beef roast at Aldi on Friday, so we had that for supper tonight. I wish we could afford that more often.

And . . . I got my first agent rejection of the year today. I’m grateful for the quick response—ten days!—but I would have liked to work with that agent. Time for some more submissions. After I get through this week of teaching.
