Well, this morning is my regular “sleep-in” morning, but of course I didn’t sleep in much because I still had grading and class prep to do. Jasper had overslept accidentally and had to rush to get to his yard job today an hour late.
I cut it rather close and was barely got the grading done and the dining room set up in time for class. Today we worked on a definition paragraph.
As soon as my students left, I was off to Aldi to buy a few groceries. Jasper returned while I was still putting them away. He ate lunch, took a shower, packed, and was off with his friends. I hope they have a great trip to celebrate his birthday.
My new pens arrived today. I use purple pens for grading because I think purple ink is less angry than the red ink that teachers always used during my student days. Years ago I bought a package of six purple pens and they have started running out of ink—so I had to get a couple more. They’re even nicer than my old ones.
Meanwhile, I had plenty to do to get ready for tonight’s Sunday School social. I always take my keto sausage balls because that’s a gluten-free thing that I can eat. I also had to make the filling for the macarons (NOT the burned ones) and get them put together, and cut some lemon bars to take. I also took some cheese and olives.
The social was held on a farm belonging to a couple in our class who have a lovely party barn that is perfect for get-togethers. It is so pretty and peaceful out there. We had no agenda tonight other than to visit and eat—but that’s plenty!
As the sun went down and the air cooled, I really enjoyed sitting out on the porch for a while. We left while it was still pretty light, and stopped at Walmart on the way home to put gas in the car as I’ll be driving to Mount Pleasant tomorrow. Then Walter took me past the pond on campus so I could see the new fountain all lit up.
Then he chased down and reprimanded a guy he saw driving on the grass. Always on duty . . .
I am facing a long day tomorrow while already feeling socially depleted. I hope it is worth the effort I’m putting into it.
